The article explores the long-term suppressed attempt by Mexican left-wing artists to strengthen relations with the Soviet Union by developing cultural links and sending works by Mexican artists to Soviet museums. The study discusses the most important actions in this process, identifies the works stored in Soviet museums, and reveals the history of famous paintings and even entire collections that have disappeared. The analysis of inter-institutional relations shows the influence and role of individual personalities in contradictory cultural processes.
